Dual core is the equalvalent of having two processors in your computer. You will have twice the processing power than with a normal processor. This can be an advantage if you do video editing, work with high end graphics programs or use your computer for intense gaming.

Do you need dual core? Well it's never bad to buy a computer thats faster than you need, but if you only surf the web, send emails and type an occasional document, then probably not.
